With over 20 years professional experience, Emily has been fortunate to work in some of Australia’s leading Architecture and Landscape Architecture studios as well as for The City of Melbourne. Having experience as both client and consultant, she has developed a unique breadth of experience, strong collaborative approach and passion for innovation and design excellence at every stage of the project. She is committed to continual learning and working with honesty, authenticity, and creativity.

She holds a special interest in ephemeral, elemental and experiential qualities of site. An intuitive designer who embraces the poetics of landscape and the power of narrative and storytelling. Through merging this approach with real-world science and data she believes we can advocate and steer positive change for future generations.

Able to work at a range of scales with experience in complex, multidisciplinary projects as well as smaller community-led plans, she brings her rich strategic knowledge and commitment to design advocacy and consultation to every engagement. Emily is an active AILA member and has participated regularly in design review panels for RMIT, Deakin University and the City of Melbourne through which she has developed a deep commitment to mentoring and fostering future designers.

Tiange Wu

Personal Experience

Tiange has a multidisciplinary background with a Master of Architecture and Civil Engineering and Bachelor of Landscape Architecture. Drawing on her passion for water and design, she is currently undertaking a PhD around Design Response to Applying Nature-based Solutions for Integrated Urban Water Management. The research also builds on her working experiences in China, Australia, and Southeast Asia, which allows her to develop a broader view of landscape planning and design from the perspective of urbanism, management, economy, and governance. Her research and practice consider water as an irreplaceable element for people to reconnect with nature and a catalyst for cities to build resilience.

Shaw Abrey

Personal Experience

Shaw is a water engineer/ecologist with specialist expertise in water sensitive urban design (WSUD), sustainable water management, waterway health, and urban channel naturalization.

Having completed a double degree in engineering (Civil and Environmental) and science (Ecology), Shaw has a passion for ecosystem conservation, climate resilience and integrated water management. As a Senior Civil/Environmental Engineer & Ecologist, Shaw is the project manager and design lead for the McGregor Coxall team on the AIWASI project.

Phi Bang Do

Personal Experience

Specialising in climate adaptation and nature-based solutions, Phi Bang Do is a Chartered Civil Engineer (Engineers Australia) and International Professional Engineer (APEC IntPE) with over ten years’ experience in managing multi-disciplinary projects of different scales from master planning to detail design. He is the technical director of McGregor Coxall’s AIWASI project team. His technical expertise varies from urban drainage planning and designing with Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD) principles to flood risk assessment with hydraulic modelling analysis demonstrating leadership in project management to deliver high quality projects on-time and on-budget. Over the past decade, Do has overseen and delivered sustainable engineering scopes on several international award-winning projects across the globe, specifically in the Asia-Pacific region.

Matthew Ritson

Personal Experience

Matthew completed his Landscape Architecture Degree in 2010 with Honours and the University Medal. He spent 18 months working at McGregor Coxall as a student Landscape Architect before departing for the UK to spend two years working on projects of various scales in both London and throughout the UK.

On his return to Australia, Matthew rejoined the McGregor Coxall team where he has progressed to Associate and studio technical design leader. He is passionate to bring a positive contribution to the environmental, ecological and social infrastructures of cities and believes that built landscapes should strive to have a positive impact as well as acting as catalysts for further sustainable development.

Hossein Rizeei

Personal Experience

Hossein is a highly qualified GIS scientist with more than 16 years’ experience as a data scientist, geospatial modeler, geospatial data engineer and environmental project manager. He has designed, developed, and tested several geospatial-based methodologies to assess urban planning, natural hazards, green infrastructure metrics using GIS, remote sensing, artificial intelligence, and statistical techniques.

Hossein’s repertoire in delivering informed solutions includes the employment of machine learning models in geospatial systems, geospatial 3D analysis, geospatial database querying, Web GIS, airborne/spaceborne image processing, feature extraction, time serious analysis in forecasting modelling and domain adaptation in various environmental applications.

Throughout his professional life, Hossein has also published several ISI papers, book chapters and conference scientific articles in these fields, while more recently delivering remote sensing assessments to extract the tree canopy coverage associated with height from Lidar point clouds and informing best practice in urban greening factor metrics.

Tom Flugge

Personal Experience

Thomas recently completed his bachelor’s in landscape architecture at RMIT. Having gained several years’ experience working in both landscape construction and the nursery industry, he has acquired a strong practical appreciation of soft-scape and plant selection.

Through his studies he has demonstrated a flare for communicating atmospheric designs that evoke a strong relationship between the built form and the landscape. Thomas also has a passion for agriculture and he has explored this through town planning studies, community planting schemes and urban park concepts.

Travelling extensively throughout Australia, Asia & Europe, Thomas has experienced a wide range of landscape systems. His mature and carefully considered design approach and clearly presented graphics and technical drawing are key strengths that benefit the Melbourne studio.

Miranda Wilkinson

Personal Experience

Miranda has over 10 years international experience in Landscape Architecture and Urban Design. Committed to the ethos of sustainability, diversity, equality, and forward-thinking design solutions, she is co-Leader of McGregor Coxall’s Melbourne studio where she is jointly responsible for the practice’s Victorian operations and leading project teams.

Miranda also works with our global team to steer the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion strategy for the company. Miranda has outstanding experience in strategic thinking, developing award-winning masterplans and delivery of socially, environmentally and economically responsive projects such as Moonee Ponds Strategic Opportunities Plan, Docklands Primary School and the Shipwreck Coast Masterplan.

She is an agile strategist and strong collaborator enabling her to manage and bring about resolution of both project management and design challenges effectively and creatively throughout all stages of the project, and across all project types, scales and budgets.

Joel is an environmental engineer with specialization in Integrated Water Management (IWM) and Blue-Green Infrastructure. An Associate Director of McGregor Coxall’s Environment Team based in Sydney, he is the AIWASI project lead for McGregor Coxall. With over 10 years’ experience in strategic planning and design, civil and geotechnical engineering across Australia, Asia and the Pacific, he offers a strong understanding of the major environmental and water security challenges facing cities and urban communities. Joel values innovation and collaboration and compliments McGregor Coxall’s disciplines with a unique skill set that blends strategic planning, technical analysis and engineering assessment with an overarching design aesthetic.
