Satarupa is an enthusiastic urban development professional with over 5 years of experience driven by a passion for sustainability and planning. Fascinated by the dynamics of cities, their cultures, and complexities, she is committed to enhancing inclusivity and liveability. Beginning her career as an architect with various firms, she later transitioned into planning with Jabalpur Smart City. She made significant contributions in her experiences encompassing urban governance, tourism, water management, community participation, and area-based development. Notably, she has collaborated on urban planning projects with Srinagar Smart City and Municipal Corporation, focusing on pan-city and area-based development initiatives. Moreover, she played a key role in developing the Climate Smart Cities Assessment Framework-1 with the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. She also spearheaded the creation of a WISE framework for the In-WARDs dashboard, facilitating ward-level evaluation of service delivery and SDG contributions, which was piloted in Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation in collaboration with Pimpri Chinchwad Smart City. Leveraging her expertise in planning and architecture, Satarupa has effectively managed various responsibilities including research, data analysis, surveys, tool and framework development, strategy planning, implementation, proposal writing, team management, and financial oversight.

Currently, she is focused on data-driven decision-making strategies and people-centric urban planning. She is actively exploring frameworks and indices for evaluating urban governance and planning aspects and is particularly interested in developing toolkits for assessing urban services and ecosystems to mitigate climate change impacts. Her research interests span climate change adaptation in cities, nature-based solutions, water-sensitive urban design, traditional river management practices, and the development of toolkits and dashboards for informed decision-making and sustainable urban planning.

Satarupa holds a bachelor’s degree in Architecture and a Master’s in Urban Planning from the School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi. After working hours, she enjoys indulging her passions for art, travel, and gardening.
