Aakash Malik works as a GIS and Remote Sensing Data Analyst in the Urban Water Resilience practice of Sustainable Cities and Transport program. He supports the Urban Water Resilience program with collecting, analyzing and visualizing the GIS and remote sensing data as well as researching on image processing, mapping platforms and dashboards as per project requirements. His work also revolves around doing programming with open-source software packages like python and java-script (in google earth engine) to extract primary and secondary datasets.
Prior to joining WRI India, Aakash worked on Field data collection and GIS analysis for lake restoration, solid waste management and decentralized wastewater treatment projects.
Aakash holds a B.E. degree in Civil Engineering from LDRP College of Engineering (affiliated to Gujarat Technological University) and a master’s in Geomatics from CEPT University, Ahmedabad. He has also completed his master’s thesis from Hochschule für Technik (HFT) Stuttgart, Germany.
